Where are your manners?

Do you dare you to rate your telephone technique as a REALTOR?    It is surprising to me that we forget our manners.  Answering business lead calls with “hello” – not professional, especially with leads that don’t know they are connecting with a Realtor.

DO THIS INSTEAD:

“Hi or “Hello”  this is (YOUR NAME with CENTURY 21 Select Group)      (good manners demand you introduce yourself and then ask “Who am I speaking with.”  )

So they give you their first name or last name  - USE IT

“Bob, what can I help you with?”

If you can’t assist them immediately – “Bob, I am not in front of a computer.  Would it be possible to call you back in an hour?”  (MAKE SURE YOU CALL BACK WHEN YOU SAID YOU WOULD)

What if the property is off the market or sold?

  1.  I am sorry that property is no longer available – DEAD SILENCE BY THE AGENT    (Boy that is really going to make the buyer want to work with you!)        OR…………………
  2. I am sorry, that property is no longer available.  What was it that you liked about that property?  Tell me a little bit about what you are looking for?

All of this is just plain ole good manners.  Nothing new - introducing yourself, using a customer's name and asking good questions -it's not rocket science.

On a scale of one to ten - where are you with telephone technique?
