52 Weekends in the Poconos

This weekend’s weather looks glorious in the Poconos, perfect for mountain biking! Brady’s Lake is a 25,000 acre playground. The Lehigh River comes from the Lenape Indian name for river,  Lechewuekink, 

meaning "where there are forks".  It originates from a series of glacial bogs on the PoconoPlateau.  The upper portion of the Lehigh is considered a coldwater, freestone stream and has that characteristic Pocono tannic stain. Water is supplied to the Lehigh from three sources: snow melt, rain and feeder streams.

This is the big day all the fishermen have been waiting for - first day of trout season. Nothing says girls’ night out like a trip to the local couples resort…not. On the other hand, it can make for a fun twist when comedians are involved.I took off one Friday night to Paradise Stream, one of three lusciously romantic couples resorts at Cove Haven. The Poconos has a lot to offer in the way of outdoor sports and recreation, but we also have some sophisticated hot spots to tempt you out at night. One of these is Mount Airy Casino, easy to find off of Rt. 611 in Mount Pocono. Jack Frost and Big Boulder are sister ski resorts with plenty of snow bum fun for the whole family. A friend treated me and my daughter Sofia to a day on the slopes and we were off!Being only four years old, my fearless daughter was nonetheless, intimidated. She worried…could she do it?
