Living and working in the Poconos, we work closely with vacation home buyers. Just last night I had a conversation with a lovely couple from New Jersey who have a vacation home in Locust Lake Village. They had spent time at the Jersey Shore, but decided on buying the second home in the Poconos. And the reasons were simple - they got twice the house for the dollars spent over purchasing at the shore and the Poconos offers them things to do year 'round.
As I look over the time I've spent here, I fondling recall taking long quite hikes through the forest without encountering crowds, kayaking on a pristine mountain lake, mountain biking and rafting on at the Lehigh Gorge, golfing on many top-notch golf courses, and going out my door to cross-country ski through 25,000 acres at Brady's State Game Lands. Sometimes we enjoy going to the casinos or we take in harness racing at the Downs at Mohigan Sun.
I did enjoy a weekend or two at the shore with my son and grandson's. But to do that for weeks on end with just beaches and lots of people - not my cup of tea. Give me tall trees, natural wildlife and mountain breezes.
What is your choice - The Shore or The Mountains?
